Alla Cucina delle Langhe is a gem in the sea of fine dining in Milan. This is not a touristy place but is “IN”. Traditional regional foods from Piemonte and Lombardia are the stalwarts of this interesting establishment.
Alla Cucina delle Langhe is one of the best restaurants on the lively Corso Como and the trattoria is a favourite of amongst others Tom Ford when in Milan. The ambience is unpretentious although the place is a favourite amongst Milanese footballers and international models. The décor is retro and the ground floor boosts a rare collection of Mussolini’s fashist art magazine La Rivista on the wall.
“Le Langhe,” as it’s locally known, serves classic Piedmontese specialties like tajarin with ragu, parmesan, and brown butter; breaded veal cutlets; and risotto cooked in Barolo wine.
The wine cellar is tremendous, Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Tignanello, Giacosa Barolo, Nebbiolo, Gaja & Rey, and Arneis on the top end and numerous middle level wines.
As a fashion landmark, you may have trouble getting in the door if you show up in shorts and sandals.
