PRACTICAL INFO

Location

The Hotel de Pourtalès is a historic 'hôtel particulier', a type of large townhouse in France, at 7 rue Tronchet in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. The hotel is just a few steps from Place de La Madeleine. The Hôtel de Pourtalès was built in 1839 by Félix Duban, the architect of Paris’s Ecole des Beaux-Arts (Fine Arts School), for a Swiss-born banker, diplomat and art collector called Count James-Alexandre de Pourtalès. Nestled between the Madeleine Church and the Boulevard Haussmann, the building was designed in a neo-Renaissance style. Its arches, pilasters, friezes, and even its interior courtyard evoke the ideal Tuscan palazzo.

Accommodation

The ultra-discreet Hôtel de Pourtalès has been transformed by rising French design star Agatha Labaye. The hotel consists of two rooms and nine suites, the latter ranging in size from 95m2 to 367m2, which stretch over seven floors with a lush garden in the central courtyard and planted terraces on both the first and top two floors. The meticulously hand-picked furnishings inside the suites are both sculptural and resolutely modern. Iconic pieces by Charlotte Perriand, Gerrit Rietveld, Carlo Scarpa, and Le Corbusier rub shoulders with the creations of a new generation of French designers, such as Garnier & Linker and Studio Pool. Each suite comes with its own bathroom, lounge, dining room, bedroom, and fully-equipped kitchen. There are two enormous signature suites: The Garden Duplex and the Sky Penthouse, equipped with its very own rooftop terrace.

Services

Safety and exceptional service are at the heart of the hotel's philosophy. From the permanent concierge to access to the gym, including the provision of a home Chef and/or a dedicated Bodyguard, everything is done to ensure that the Pourtalès experience is personal and peaceful. Nothing here deviates from the experience of hyper-luxury: exceptional volumes, collector's design, contemporary art, premium concierge, enhanced security. Not to mention the services of Akrame Benallal, whose Michelin-starred table is set at the foot of the Italian-style palazzo.
