Over a dozen winters in Alentejo became an inspiration for Louboutin, who designed this 5-star hotel that celebrates Portuguese tradition and know-how, whilst reflecting the French designer’s cultural passion, curiosity, and welcoming character. The hotel is located on the Alentejo coast, south of Lisbon, in the peaceful town of Melides. The natural surroundings and gentle pace of life inspire creativity from every corner. Surrounded by vineyards and rice fields, the village offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and lush forests. The traditional ambiance and savoir-faire energy make this place truly unique. Melides is approximately a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from Lisbon International Airport. The beach is a short stroll from the hotel.
Vermelho, designed by Madalena Caiado, is a three-story hotel with only 13 rooms, each distinct from the other. The hotel features Northern African and European influences throughout, with custom mosaics, inlaid wood flooring, and colorful murals adding to its charm. The rooms are vibrant with unique furniture pieces personally chosen by Christian Louboutin. Vermelho's eclectic and maximalist style pays homage to Christian Louboutin's signature color, red. Guests can appreciate unique pieces of art, such as the hand-sculpted façade by Italian sculptor Giuseppe Ducrot and frescoes by Greek artist Konstantin Kakanias.
Vermelho’s lively gardens provide a picturesque backdrop for soaking up the Melides sun beside the heated natural pool. Designed by renowned French landscape architect Louis Benech, whose portfolio includes the Gardens of Versailles, every detail of the colorful yet natural gardens blends seamlessly with the surrounding Melides landscape. The hotel's restaurant, Xtian, showcases the culinary treasures of Portugal, using locally sourced ingredients from the market and land. Guests can unwind with spa treatments and massages, while the Vermelho bar offers a relaxed atmosphere for sipping cocktails.
