Discover the true meaning of peace and privacy at the unique setting of Lopud 1498, a 15th-century monastery transformed into a heaven of art and relaxation. Recently restored and filled with original pieces from the Thyssen-Bornemisza family’s private collection, Lopud 1498 is a place not to visit, but to experience.
The island of Lopud belongs to the southern Dalmatian group of islands and is located near Dubrovnik. Accessed by ferry from Dubrovnik, LOPUD 1483 is located on the northernmost tip of the Croatian island of Lopud, in the heart of the Elaphiti islands, between Kokocep and Sipan. Its coast is about 13 km long, the sandy beaches on the island stretch for about 1.2 km. It's 45 minutes by boat from Dubrovnik and the closest airport is Cilipi.
A unique 15th century monastery meticulously restored over the last twenty years opened as the art world hideaway with five suites each filled with contemporary amenities and a bespoke private art collection compiled by three generations of the Thyssen-Bornemisza family.
When you're not admiring art works, you can relax in a delightful garden set with terraces and over 80 species of plants, an homage to the Franciscan monks’ knowledge of medicinal plants. Private outdoor yoga sessions and personalized wellness programs can be arranged. Instead of creating a designated restaurant for just five suites, the owners have opted to allow the chefs to serve guests whatever they like, wherever they would like it.
