As you come back down from the mountain, make a stop at Bo-Kaap, home to the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly coloured houses.
This full-day tour takes in the scenic highlights of the Cape Peninsula, beginning with the four secluded beaches of Clifton, as well as the sidewalk cafés and bars of trendy Camp‘s Bay.Than the spectacular coastal suburb of Hout Bay, a former fishing village. Explore the restaurants, shops and markets of Mariner‘s Wharf, a harbour-front emporium with a distinct maritime ambiance. Depending on whether the road is open, the tour will continue along the breath-taking Chapman‘s Peak Drive before heading to the Cape of Good Hope. The tour ends at the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, set against the eastern slopes of spectacular Table Mountain.
The estates visited will vary according to your preferences, but the tour includes the region’s major wine producing areas and visits some beautiful wine estates for tastings of high quality vintages. Nestled in a valley where the French Huguenots settled in 1688, Franschhoek is a delight for antique lovers and gastronomes. South Africa’s secondoldest town, Stellenbosch provides another glimpse of classic 17th and 18th century Cape style.
The Rovos Rail recaptures the romantic atmosphere of a bygone era and the mystery of Africa in a relaxed, elegant fashion. Socialize in the observation car as the train winds through the scenic areas of Touws River, De Doorns and Worcester through the four tunnels of the Hex River Pass. The train makes a stop in the historic village of Matjiesfontein. The second day the train makes an interesting stop in Kimberley, allowing plenty of time for you to visit the ‘Big Hole’ and the Diamond Museum. Dinner is served as the train continues its journey through Bloemhof, Leeudoringstad and Klerksdorp. On the third day the train forges on at a relaxing pace, passing through Krugersdorp, Johannesburg and Germiston, arriving at Centurion where the Rovos locomotive takes over and steams the train into Capital Park, Pretoria.

Today Johannesburg is the powerhouse of Africa and home to the conti nents busiest airport. Johannesburg is a wealthy and fast-paced city, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world, earning its reputation as the “New York of Africa”, while also being considered as o ne of the largest manmade forests in the world.
The Sabi Sand Game Reserve consists of more than 65 000 hectares (160 620 acres) that border the Kruger National Park. With no fences between the farms (or, for that matter, between them and the Kruger Park), animals wander across vast stretches of grazing land as they did years and years ago. With one of the richest game populations in the country, the chances of seeing the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino) are excellent. The picturesque Ulusaba Safari Lodge is built along the banks of the dry Mabrak River bed. Adventures include game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles, nature walks and birdwatching.
The completion of the Victoria Falls bridge gave birth to the city of Livingstone in 1905.
