Arrive in Delhi, where you are met and transferred to your airport hotel.
Fly to Paro and receive a tashi khadda (traditional welcome). In Thimphu, visit the National Memorial Chorten. Later, see the Tashichhodzong Fortress.
See the Folk Heritage and National Textile Museums and literature at the National Library.
Drive over the Dochula Pass, seeing the colorful prayer flags en route to Punakha. Stop at Punakha Dzong, continuing to the Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of the Divine Madman).
Drive to Chuzom en route to Paro, seeing the religious thankga (scroll) paintings and the natural history collection at the National Museum. Continue to Rinpung Dzong, a monastery and fortress along a mountain river.
Hike to the Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, spending the day with the monks. Later, visit the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s most sacred shrines.
Fly to Kathmandu, where you ride by rickshaw to Durbar Square and Teleju Temple, see the house of the Living Goddess (Kumari) and stroll through the bazaar, old city and Swayambhunath.
Explore Bungamati, Rato Machhendranath Temple and the Lokeshwar Shrine. Attend a Nepalese cooking class in a local home. Then, visit Patan, Durbar Square, the Royal Baths, Golden Temple and Krishna Mandir.
Fly to Bharatpur. After settling in, set out on an elephant-back safari. Attend an evening briefing from a resident naturalist. The following day, view wildlife, hike and take a nature walk with trained guides. Later, canoe down the Rapti River, and watch the sunset while enjoying a sundowner along the banks.
Fly to Kathmandu. The next day, see monks debate at the Kopan Nunnery. Visit the royal city of Bhaktapur, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, where a local artisan will share his or her experience.
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
