OVERVIEW

Begin in Santiago, meet an oysterman in the Lake District to sample his catch, visit a Patagonian ranch, sail on Lago Argentino, enjoy a tasting of Argentine wines and stroll La Boca in Buenos Aires.

ITINERARY

Day 1: ARRIVE IN SANTIAGO, CHILE

Arrive in Santiago, capital of Chile, where you are met and escorted to your hotel. Visit the Palacio de La Moneda Presidential Palace and the Plaza de Armas, with its impressive Cathedral and Central Post Office. Ride a funicular up San Cristobal Hill to view the stunning statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Tonight, enjoy a festive welcome dinner at a local restaurant that showcases Chilean wines.

Day 2: PUERTO MONT / In the Charming Lake District

Fly to Puerto Mont in the Chilean Lake District. Drive to Frutillara, a charming village founded by German settlers. Stroll past the Teatro del Lago Concert Hall and enjoy breath-taking views of Osorno Volcano. Visit the German Museum and stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

Day 3: LAKE DISTRICT / Humboldts & Magellanics

Journey to Chiloé Island by ferry, and then drive inland for an oyster tasting. Visit Puñihuil, a small fishing village, to sight the Magellanic and Humboldt penguins that live and nest there. Savor a lunch of local cuisine.

Day 4: PUNTA ARENAS & PUERTO NATALES / Ranch Life

Fly to Punta Arenas. Enjoy lunch, tour a traditional Patagonian ranch, and then drive to Puerto Natales. Check into your hotel, where you dine tonight.

Day 5 Days 5-7: PUERTO NATALES / Discovering Patagonia

Begin three full days of exploration in spectacular Patagonia, led by your expert guides. Choose from a wide range of exclusive expeditions and activities, such as horseback riding, trekking, kayaking, mountain biking and birding — all designed to reveal Patagonia at its most authentic. Mingle with the local residents to learn their customs, visiting ranches and businesses where the region’s pioneers worked, sailing fjords and admiring landscapes far off the beaten path.

Day 8: EL CALAFATE, ARGENTINA / Gateway to Glaciers

Travel to El Calafate in Argentina, gateway to glaciers. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 9: EL CALAFATE / Los Glaciares National Park

Enjoy a full day exploring in Los Glaciares National Park. Visit the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier and listen for its occasional crack and roar. Enjoy lunch before returning to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 10: EL CALAFATE / Stunning Lago Argentino

Sail across Lago Argentino among icebergs, enjoying the aweinspiring glaciers nearby. Disembark to drive to Estancia Cristina and visit the Costumbrista Museum, before ascending mountain roads to view Upsala Glacier and Lake Guillermo. Return to Estancia for lunch.

Day 11: BUENOS AIRES / Argentina’s Capital

Fly to Buenos Aires, the elegant capital of Argentina, a city with European flair set. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Later, enjoy a walking orientation tour. Before dinner, savor a wine tasting at a local cellar/bar. Learn about some of Argentina’s famed regional wines. Dine tonight at a local restaurant.

Day 12: BUENOS AIRES / Touring the Historic City

Explore Buenos Aires in the company of an expert resident guide. Visit the Plaza de Mayo, pass through San Telmo neighborhood, continue to La Boca and walk along Caminito Street. Then, tour the world-renowned Teatro Colón. Visit La Recoleta Cemetery, last resting place of Eva Perón. Tonight, gather for a festive farewell dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 13: DEPART BUENOS AIRES

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and depart.
