OVERVIEW

Villa Gella is a lovingly restored, family-run luxurious mountain retreat in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria, the birthplace of the Thracian hero Orpheus. Villa Gella is open in all four seasons for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, skiing, bird watching, exploring caves and medieval villages, folk music and dance. The remains of the Thracian civilisation, medieval monasteries, traces of the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires, the imprints of Soviet Communism are there to be discovered.

Location

Villa Gella is located in the Rhodope Mountains’ hamlet Gela (Bulgaria), the birthplace of Orpheus. It is situated on a hill (1,550m altitude) and commands a stunning 270° view of the surrounding mountains. It can be reached by car or helicopter from the international airports of Sofia (220km), Plovdiv (120km), Istanbul (500km), Thessaloniki (320km).

Accomodation

Villa Gella comprises six en-suite double bedrooms with spectacular views, that have fireplaces and underfloor heating, spacious living&dining room, a spa with in-door swimming pool, library, well-equipped kitchen, terraced gardens. It sleeps up to 12 adults and up to 4 children. It is fully serviced with a staff of five: chef, butler/ concierge and other.In the reception room guests enjoy the local dishes of the villa’s private chef, wine-tasting, herbal teas or get-togethers.

Services

The villa provides multiple activities: a spa with an indoor swimming pool with a jet, steam room, massage table, yoga mats, free weights, and out-door courts for badminton, horseshoe throwing and les boules, half basketball court; an open-air Jacuzzi and two open air BBQs, children’s layground.
Villa Gella staff organizes itineraries for guests tailored to satisfy their specific interests in the outdoors ranging from guided mountain hiking and skiing, to horseback riding and cave exploration.
