Zaha Hadid Retrospective Shows In Venice

In contrast with the classical ornate interior décor of the Palazzo Franchetti in Venice, the designs of Zaha Hadid stand as fiercely futuristic and sleek. Hadid is widely known for being one of the greatest female architects – as the first woman to achieve the Pritzker Architecture Prize and to receive the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects. A retrospective exhibition of Hadid will run in the palazzo, alongside the Venice Architecture Biennale, until November 27. It will feature paintings, drawings and models of her work – both finished and unfinished.

For the lovers of wine: La Cité du Vin

Bordeaux will become the capital of wine on 1st June 2016 with the opening of La Cité du Vin. It’s the world’s first cultural center devoted to wine, designed by Parisian architects XTU and funded by its home city of Bordeaux. But this is more than just a very pretty tasting room (though, yes, there are three of them in the facility). La Cité du Vin places the history of wine within an immersive environment that blends theatricality—3D imagery, aroma diffusion—with multifaceted exhibitions exploring wine as a societal force, sculptor of landscapes, an inspiration to artists, and source of myth.

Harmony of the Seas - The Biggest Cruise Ship Ever Made

What’s longer than the Eiffel Tower, is many times heavier yet stays afloat in water? It is nothing less than the largest cruise liner, belonging to Royal Caribbean Cruises. The 120,000-ton Harmony of the Seas, capable of accommodating more than 8,000 passengers and crew in the most luxurious conditions, was revealed Thursday at a French boatyard. At 66 meters (217 feet), it is the widest cruise ship ever built, while its 362-meter length makes it 50 meters longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower. Among the onboard attractions are “The Ultimate Abyss”, a 10-storey slide from the top deck to the boardwalk. A giant climbing wall, a rope slide, mini-golf, surf simulator, floating jacuzzis, casino and 1,400-seat theatre playing Broadway musicals are among the other attractions. Two robot barmen will serve passengers in the “Bionic Bar”. The ship even has its own high street, and a “Central Park” deck featuring 12,000 plant species.
